Yes: you are a mother who is responsible for two children and their father is a loser/whore and No: You are no longer a carefree, young, slim and attractive starlet. 58. She doesn't need rehab. She needs therapy. She's never made a single decision of her own in her whole life - she's emotionally about 8 years old. Not her fault entirely - she's been a saleable commodity since she was little and adults have always made her choices for her. Now that she's doing it herself, the choices suck, because they're the choices an 8-year-old would make. "I wanna stay up late!" "I wanna scream and jump on the bed!" "I don't wanna wear underpants!" Those are all things my 8-year-old has said - same thing.
She needs therapy, pure and simple, and she needs to get some coaching on how to grow up and be age-appropriate. It's not like she's making some screwups but is basically ok - she's literally not prepared, mentally, to make big choices and be responsible, because she's never had to be.
I hope she checked out because she realized that, but I doubt it. Girl, you need a psychiatrist. The drinking is just a symptom of what an unhappy little girl you are inside. Talk to Drew Barrymore - she's been there and she's doing great now. You two have a lot in common that way.
